CompoundPlug supplies two heptapeptides, built at the same institute, using the same stabilising trick, from completely opposite parent molecules. Semax comes from ACTH, a pituitary hormone. Selank comes from tuftsin, a fragment cleaved out of an antibody. Same Pro-Gly-Pro tail, entirely different mechanisms: BDNF and neuroprotection on one side, GABAergic anxiolysis and immune modulation on the other. Both HPLC-tested, mass-spec verified, molecular weight published. Ships from Canada. Research use only.
Semax
Built from the ACTH(4-7) fragment — and it carries none of ACTH’s hormone activity. ACTH releases cortisol and separately acts on the brain; those functions live in different parts of the molecule. Semax is the behavioural half with the hormone half removed. Studied for BDNF and NGF upregulation. MW 813.9. 5mg / 10mg. → Buy Semax Canada
Selank
Built from tuftsin — a tetrapeptide the body produces by cleaving it out of an antibody. Studied as a GABAergic anxiolytic that doesn’t bind the benzodiazepine site, with immunomodulatory activity inherited from its antibody origin. MW 751.87. 5mg / 10mg. → Buy Selank Canada
Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between Semax and Selank?
Same institute, same Pro-Gly-Pro stabilising tail, opposite parent molecules. Semax comes from ACTH(4-7), a pituitary hormone fragment, and works through BDNF and NGF upregulation — the cognitive one. Selank comes from tuftsin, an immune peptide cleaved from an antibody, and works through GABAergic and immunomodulatory pathways — the anxiolytic one. Non-overlapping mechanisms.
Does Semax raise cortisol?
No, and that’s the entire design. ACTH does two separate things: it releases cortisol from the adrenal glands, and it has direct behavioural effects on the brain. Those functions live in different parts of the molecule. Semax is built from the fragment carrying the behavioural activity without the hormone-releasing activity. It doesn’t touch the adrenal axis.
What is tuftsin?
A naturally occurring tetrapeptide that the body produces by cleaving it out of the Fc region of an antibody — immunoglobulin G. Its known function is immune: modulating macrophage activity. Selank is that immune peptide, extended and stabilised — and it turned out to have anxiolytic effects the parent doesn’t have.
How strong is the evidence?
Both are registered medicines in Russia, and both have substantial research literatures — but that literature is largely Russian-language and has seen limited independent Western replication. That’s a statement about the evidence base, not about the compounds. It’s worth knowing before designing a study around either.
Are they legal in Canada?
Neither is an authorized health product in Canada — no DIN, no NPN, not approved for human use. Neither is a controlled substance. Their registration as medicines in Russia has no bearing on Canadian status.
