Libido Peptides
Libido peptides are melanocortin receptor agonists studied for effects on sexual function and arousal — and one is literally the refined version of the other.

Researchers studying Melanotan 2 as a tanning compound noticed participants reporting sexual arousal. Palatin isolated that receptor activity, dropped the MC1R activity causing pigmentation, and got bremelanotide — PT-141 — the first melanocortin agonist ever approved by the FDA. MT-2 is the non-selective parent. Both HPLC-tested and mass-spec verified, which matters here: their molecular weights are one dalton apart. Ships from Canada. Research use only.
PT-141
Bremelanotide — a selective MC3R/MC4R agonist with substantially reduced MC1R activity. Its mechanism is central, not vascular: it acts on the hypothalamus and limbic system, not on blood vessels. Approved in the US as Vyleesi (2019); not authorized in Canada. MW 1025.2. 10mg. → Buy PT-141 Canada
Melanotan 2
Non-selective — it binds MC1R, MC3R, MC4R, and MC5R, and its broad effect profile follows directly from that. Never completed clinical development. Case reports describe changes in existing nevi, which is a coherent mechanistic concern rather than a generic caution. MW ~1024.2. 10mg. → Buy Melanotan 2 Canada
Frequently Asked Questions
How is PT-141 different from Melanotan 2?
PT-141 is the refined version. During MT-2 research, effects on sexual-function pathways were observed as an unintended MC4R finding — in studies whose endpoint was tanning. Palatin engineered a molecule to isolate it: keep MC3R/MC4R, drop the MC1R activity that drives melanogenesis. That molecule became the first FDA-approved melanocortin agonist. MT-2 is the non-selective parent.
Why does identity testing matter for these two?
Because their molecular weights are roughly one dalton apart — 1025.2 and 1024.2. Both are cyclic heptapeptides derived from α-MSH. And they are pharmacologically different molecules: MT-2 activates MC1R and drives melanogenesis; PT-141 doesn’t. A purity test cannot see a one-dalton difference. Mass spectrometry can.
How is PT-141 different from a PDE5 inhibitor?
Different organ, different mechanism, different drug class. PDE5 inhibitors work peripherally, sustaining vasodilation in vascular smooth muscle. PT-141 works centrally, on MC4R in the hypothalamus and limbic system. It doesn’t touch blood vessels.
Are they legal in Canada?
Neither is an authorized health product in Canada. PT-141 is approved in the United States as Vyleesi, but Health Canada has not authorized it — it carries no DIN and doesn’t appear in the Drug Product Database. Melanotan 2 has never completed clinical development anywhere, and Health Canada has issued warnings about unauthorized melanotan products. Neither is a controlled substance.
